Freelance Assessor/Tutor & IQA

We are seeking dedicated and experienced Assessors/Tutors/IQA’s to join our team. This is a pivotal role supporting learners undertaking various qualifications, ensuring they gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence to succeed. You will deliver engaging learning sessions, provide constructive feedback, and assess knowledge and competence across our different learning programmes.

We are looking for Tutors / Assessors / IQA’s to cover the following qualifications

  • Delivering Physical Activity and Sport to Children and Young People
  • Coaching Sport
  • Activity Leadership
  • Nutrition and Health
  • Coaching Strength and Conditioning for Sport
  • Education and Training
  • Assessing Vocational Achievement
  • Employability Skills
  • First Aid at Work
  • First Aid for Mental Health

Key Responsibilities: Assessment and Tutoring

  • To deliver teaching and learner on a range of training courses with mixed ability learners from entry level up to Level 5 in a range of subjects.
  • To deliver training in a timely manner ensuring high levels of learner satisfaction, retention and success.
  • To ensure the on and off the job training is monitored and learner progress is recorded and documented.
  • To regularly review learner progress with learners and Line Managers as and when required.
  • To attend meetings if required and provide IQA feedback in a timely manner.
  • To contribute to the preparation and involvement of external quality assurance and inspections.
  • To ensure you remain up to date with relevant legislation and changes to training delivery and content.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills when delivering training and any other events required.
  • Analyse data post course completion and produce an action plan to improve the delivery/contents of training.
  • To promote and model good practice in equality, diversity, safeguarding, health and safety and British Values into the apprenticeship/training programme.
  • To ensure compliance with funding rules and to meet timescales to ensure deadlines are met within allocated timeframes to receive funding streams and generate income.
  • To identify and assess learners needs and put in place robust learning plans, with realistic and challenging goals.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of Ofsted expectations, subject knowledge and specialist areas.
  • Tutors are expected to promote the courses that are in the portfolio of the company and especially those that are their own area of expertise.
  • To participate in standardisation, mandatory and other relevant meetings as and when required.
  • To ensure the course delivery and documentation is of high standards that meet the criteria for the examining board and contractor requirement.
  • Tutors will be measured against quality of course delivery, leaner participation, course completion, pass rates and learner feedback. This will be taken into consideration for supervisions, probations and appraisals. There will be direct tutor observation of delivery internally and potentially externally.
  • To provide and produce an IQA report for each assessment requested.
  • To assess learner files at 3 months along with an interim check.


Candidate Profile: Skills and Qualities for Excellence in Education Assessor & Tutoring

  • Hold an appropriate assessor qualification (e.g., CAVA, D32/D33, A1, or equivalent).
  • Possess a teaching qualification (e.g., PTLLS, AET, or equivalent) or willingness to work towards.
  • Relevant occupational experience in the qualifications you would like to teach & Assessor.
  • Excellent organisation, administration, and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to support a diverse learner cohort.
  • Proficient IT skills, including use of Microsoft Office and virtual learning platforms.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, promoting equality and diversity, and continuous professional development.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and maintain high levels of learner engagement.

Essential Qualifications and Experience for Assessor/Tutors/ IQA’s

  • Relevant Assessor qualification (CAVA/A1 / V1 or equivalent).
  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in their qualifications they wish to teach.
  • Recent occupational experience within their relevant industry.
  • Full driving licence and access to transport (role may require site visits).
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.

    • We will send you a ‘new trainer’ Agreement form for completion, laying out our expectations
    • We will work together to add you to our Centre
    • You are Good to Go. We will carry out an Observation of your teaching on (ideally) the first course you teach and about once a year subsequently
