Bridlington Cricket Foundation are delighted to announce that it has signed the Armed Forces Covenant, confirming the Foundation’s commitment to giving its ongoing support to serving personnel as well as service leavers, veterans and their families.
The Armed Forces Covenant confirms that the Foundation will endeavour to uphold its key principles in its business dealings, whilst also confirming that the Foundation fully acknowledges and understands that those who either currently or have served in the Armed Forces must be treated with dignity, respect and fairness in all aspects of their life.
The Covenant honours an agreement between the Armed Forces and Bridlington Cricket Foundation that ensures servicemen and women and their families will not be left disadvantaged because of their service.
Bridlington Cricket will seek to uphold the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant by:
- Promoting the fact we are an armed forces friendly organisation by publicising the Armed Forces Covenant commitments and logo on our website and social media;
- seeking to support the employment of veterans young and old by always considering offering an interview to veterans, young and old, if they meet the selection criteria laid out in a job advert. This would not constitute the guarantee of a job, but rather the offer of an opportunity to prove themselves in an interview
- striving to support the employment of Service spouses and partners by always considering offering an interview to spouses/partners if they meet the selection criteria laid out in a job advert. This would not constitute the guarantee of a job, but rather the offer of an opportunity to prove themselves in an interview;
- partners before, during and after a partner’s deployment by looking sympathetically on requests for holidays before, during or after a partner’s overseas deployment, when the Service person has leave to spend time with their family. To consider whether special paid leave is appropriate for employees who are bereaved or whose loved ones are injured;
- seeking to support our employees who choose to be members of the Reserve forces, by accommodating their training commitments wherever possible and accommodating their mobilisation if they are required to deploy;
- offering support to our local cadet units, either in our local community or in local schools, where possible by providing coaching opportunities and working with them to develop a team
- aiming to support Armed Forces Day;
- Offering sporting support and guidance, wherever possible to the Royal British Legion and Ex-Service Associations in the community;
- To actively encourage Veterans, regular Forces, Reservists, Cadet Force Adult Volunteers and Cadet Forces to take part in sporting active advocacy to these groups
